Dates: 5/6/22 to 5/12/22

Theme: Nurses Make a Difference- chosen to honor the varying roles of nurses and their positive impact on our lives.

This year’s theme is very fitting here at Century. This celebration is the kickoff to our 10-Year anniversary celebration coming up in August. Nurses have been the backbone here at century for 10 years. Our first hire after the administrator back in 2012 was a nurse. We have since hired many other disciplines to join our team, but nurses remain the critical team that supports our ability to provide patient care.

Over the last 2 years, nurses across the world have been at the front lines of the biggest healthcare challenge that we have faced in our lifetime. Here at Century, we have witnessed your courage, sacrifice and commitment to making a difference every day. You have provided care, offered emotional support to patients and family members, found solutions to many untold challenges that you encounter each day at patients’ homes, etc. We appreciate the many ways that you have gone above and beyond to care for our patients… and the patients absolutely appreciate you and all your work even when they don’t say it or show it.

Today, we are here to celebrate you, but we appreciate you every day. It is so great to see so many of you in person and virtually. We have not met in person for over 2 years so this such a joyful moment. A lot has gone into coordinating this event- I would like to recognize:

  • HR Team (Shannah, Shirley, Yvonne (came back right on time to party) and Wanjiru- for your leadership and HR oversight; James- who has worked alongside the HR team tot plan, coordinate and execute the ideas
  • Executive team – for covering the budget

We have very thoughtful gift packages for each of our nurse. I appreciate the ideas for the items came from nurses…I am confident that you will find the package practical and useful.

Over the next 3 months until our 10-Year anniversary celebration, we have exciting ways to continue celebrating our staff. We have heard from you on many recommendations on things that are important to you that we plan to implement in time for our 10-Year anniversary. Some options may include:

  • Retirement benefits for our staff…
  • Staff training options including LPN to RN bridge; HHA training,
  • We also have some crazy and exciting ideas like transportation solutions, for our staff
  • Some prices to be won including a grand prize — details to follow

Century has always been involved in the community which is one of our CORE values. Worcester is celebrating 300-years and has many family friendly activities. Participate in these events with a Century colleague for a chance to win…HR will be rolling out more details on this and many other team building activities over the next few months.

On a personal level, I have a goal between now and August. My goal is to meet with each of our clinicians. During these meetings, I will be looking to learn, get feedback on how things are going from the clinicians both veterans and new staff. I will also seek to get feedback from our patients- how have we impacted their lives? What are we doing well? etc… We can either meet over a meal (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) or at a patient’s home then share a meal. I will be reaching out to coordinate these meetings. I believe I will gather invaluable information that will help shape Century’s focus beyond the 10 years.

Thank you for making a difference every day. Happy Nurses’ Week. We celebrate you. Sincerely,

Milka Njoroge, PharmD CEO & Administrator Century Homecare, LLC
